A group of Black Lives Matter activists attacked Hillary Clinton on Wednesday night at a private fundraising event, they confronted the former secretary of states with past statements she made about youths in gangs.
Ashley Williams who is leader of the protesters said they want Hillary Clinton to apologize for mass incarceration, he said in a loud voice that he was not a super predator as Hillary Clinton claimed.
The leader of the protesters was referring to statements made by the former secretary of states in New Hampshire during her husband’s 1996 presidential re-election campaign, defending then-President Bill Clinton’s 1994 crime bill which advocated for tougher policing of gang members in the country, specifically the black community.
All the protesters paid the stipulated $500 ticket price to attend the Clinton event, according to our sources.
Hillary Clinton said in her comment in 1996 that they need to take these people on, that they are often connected to big drug cartels. They are not just gangs of kids anymore. They are often the kinds of kids that are called super-predators.
“We need no conscience, nor empathy. We can talk about why they ended up that way, but first “we have to bring them to heel.” Hillary Clinton continued.
The protesters holding a banner that said, “We have to bring them to heel”. #WhichHillary?” Hillary Clinton asked , “Will you apologize to black people for mass incarceration?”
Hillary Clinton told Williams and the protesters, if she could continue talking and then maybe they can listen to what she is saying.
But Williams and the protesters interjected, saying she owe black people an apology and she should explain to them.
Hillary Clinton responded by saying Nobody has ever asked her before. That they are the first persons to ask her. And she is happy to address it.
Hillary Clinton continued her speech after the protesters where escorted out by the secret service. She said her life work has been about lifting up children and young people who’ve been let down by the system or by society.
She also said that they are way too many Kids who never got the chance they deserved. Especially in African-American communities. She said they haven’t done right by them, and they need to.
The Clintons family have sought to mend fences with those upset by the 1994 criminal reform law, particularly as tensions between law enforcement and African-Americans have boiled over due to the death of George Floyd.
